NOTE:If the vicinity of Trafalgar Square just brings to mind the Hordes from Hell snogging disease-ridden pigeons whilst wearing wacky hats, the perfect antidote lurks in close proximity. Considering its location, the Harp is oddly free from the antics of crazy tourists. Rejecting the notion that to be successful means introducing huge sofas, doormen and German beers that would be cheaper if they were made from solid gold, and yet also avoiding the other pole of pub purgatory – the so-quaint-it’s-plastic, tourist honeypot olde worlde pubbe style – it does the basic things well. Ruggedly traditional, well provisioned, and with a huge front window that magically opens up when the weather gets hot, it’s a straightforward boozer that mostly fills with straightforward people. The best hangout within a half-mile radius of Charing Cross.
