NOTE:Super-trendy gastropub that marks the beginning of Lordship Lane’s throbbing strip of hedonism. All stripped wood and groovy details, light pouring in through the generous windows and a front area that opens out in summer, it has plenty of tables, streetside seating for those who want to drown in the rush hour traffic fumes, and a large room at the back for the consumption of football, cricket and other English failures. Serves pizza all day, and other flashy food at various moments, the usual hokum of Belgian beer plus all the standard crap, and somehow gets away with it. A constantly lively atmosphere with a mixed and entertaining bag of clientele makes this actually a pretty impressive place: easy going but fun. It also tries hard: with live acts, comedy and film screenings upstairs. Best of the area’s pretty good bunch.
